This homemade costume for families entered our 2017 Halloween Costume Contest.
A word from Zulema, the 'Family of Spiders' costume creator:
Moolah the Bulldog Black Widow, Roman the Cobalt Blue Tarantula, Emilia the Baby Black Widow and Rocky the Blue Tarantula are the cutest, scariest spiders around.
My son wanted to be a hairy spider so the theme came to life.
I used pipe insulation covers for all of the spider legs and inserted picture hanging wire into every leg to bend them. Eyes were sequined buttons. Black Widow material is a faux latex spandex material and lined with foam and fleece for smoothness and warmth. It also helped with the bottom bell to make it around. Tarantulas I used three different faux furs for a nice effect. I lined it with foam and light cotton because the inside of the fur is rough.
