This homemade costume for kids entered our 2017 Halloween Costume Contest.

A word from Amy, the 'Inspector Gadget' costume creator:

This is my daughter wearing this costume. We were unsure as to what to make her this year and well it came down to the day before she needed it and we decided Inspector Gadget. So I stayed up until 2:30 in the morning spray painting pvc pipe, stuffing yellow cleaning gloves with stuffing, 8 hot glue sticks, 3 cans of grey fabric paint and a lot of love later here we are.

Pretty sure not a lot of youngsters will know who she is, but the adults most certainly will!!! Absolutely awesome idea! Way to go!

[at]Tasha The heaviest parts would appear to be the PVC pipes. The rest of it's fabric, stuffing, and various types of craft foam.

So long as 1) the hat has some kind of superstructure underneath* to support the gadgets and 2) the gadgets themselves are balanced (which these appear to be), then it shouldn't actually weigh all that much.

*The superstructure need be nothing more than a plastic bowl or something, just so long as the hat *itself* isn't supporting the props.
