A word from Jane, the 'Eyeless the Scary Scarecrow' costume creator:
Wayne dressed as Eyeless the Scary Scarecrow this year! This costume evolved by what was available in the craft box, Goodwill and the dollar store! After finding a flannel shirt and some overalls at Goodwill we made raffia bracelets, a raffia necklace and some long raffia "bracelets" that affixed above the calf, below the knee. I used elastic as the rings and tied the raffia until it looked "good enough." We used burlap under his hat to make a "traditional" scarecrow head. The make-up was a blend of dollar store Halloween grease paint and ~real~ foundation. The burlap cross-hatch look was achieved by putting brown grease-paint on mesh hardware cloth and pressing it onto Wayne's already made up face. The eye prosthetic was purchased at one of those temporary Halloween stores. It was all of $5. Wayne added more make-up to it to help it blend into his face and added some ugly "Clem" teeth to class it up! There is a dollar store crow sitting on his shoulder, so of course to add to the scary, Wayne talked in a gravelly voice and warned the children to beware the crows!
