Ant-Man and Antony Costume

This is the Ant-Man and Antony costume we created for my son's wheelchair. The costume was the first one I attempted that had moving parts. Each of Antony's ant legs moves independently to give the illusion that he is walking as my son drives his wheelchair. Antony was created with PVC pipe and each leg had a rollerblade wheel attached to it. We then made masonite wheelcovers with a wooden bump running across the diameter of the cover. As the wheel turned, each rollerblade wheel rolled across the masonite and would move the leg up as the rollerblade rolled over the bump on the wheelcover. The rest of the head and body of Antony was created out of foam, carved, and then covered in black shiny fabric. Wooden dowel rods were used for Antony's antenae.

Ant-Man's helmet was made from scratch and was made from floor mat foam, cut and shaped, glued, sealed and then painted. Red mesh was used for the eye lenses.

The whole costume took about 150 hours and cost about $100-150.
