A word from Chelsea, the 'Army Tank Driver' costume creator:
Jadyn Arenas is wearing the costume. He is 6.5 years old. His mom (Chelsea) and grandpa (Ed) made the tank costume to go over his wheelchair. The idea came from his tank helmet that he is wearing with his costume. He needed a new helmet for horse back riding therapy and the tank helmet is the only one that he would put on his head, so I knew it would be a great Halloween costume idea for his wheelchair. We used a lot of Styrofoam and duct tape to make the tank. Jadyn helped cut the pieces with a saw and put them together with the duct tape. Jadyn also helped with the spray painting. We used 3 different colors to make the camouflage. We used grandpa's shop vac hose for the canon and spray painted that also. The treds are made out of a spray painted Styrofoam back and cardboard. They are detachable and attached to the tank with Velcro in order to fit through the doors. The tank cost about $125 to make and Jadyn pants and jacket cost $40. (The helmet was another $25. The face paint was a few dollars from the grocery store. The whole costume was right around $200!
