Buzz Lightyear Boys Costume

When my son was three, he asked me to make him Buzz Lightyear. Even though I make his costume every year, I knew that would be a tricky request, but I made it, and he absolutely LOVED it! I actually surprised myself, with how well it came out! I was unsure how to make the chest plate, and while walking through Wal-Mart, I literally ran in to my inspiration - a white, kitchen trashcan (seriously, check out the "Before and After" pics!). I brought that home, sketched out the design, which my husband cut out, using a jigsaw (I think). I made the wings with pieces of foam board, painted the designs, and glued purple spandex fabric for the head. Finally, using styrofoam cups, I made the arm, and leg pieces. After 2 trashcans, dozens of styrofoam pieces - both board and cup - a COUNTLESS number of tears, and 3 months, I had finally completed Buzz. A costume, which by the way was so realistic, my son thought it was Buzz Lightyear's REAL space suit, from when he was a child. Thus, making it worth every single tear.
