This homemade costume for boys entered our 2012 Halloween Costume Contest.

A word from Kenna, the 'Lego Ninjago' costume creator:

I asked my five year old son Blade what he wanted to be for Halloween. He said Lego Ninjago! I started brainstorming and the costume was born! the body and legs are cardboard, hands and arms are pvc pipe and the head is a basket. All wrapped in duck tape. This costume won best of show at a local festival! Best of all total money spent $ 9.00!

Wow, that's great! My 6 year old son wants to do this costume this year. Could you tell me how you made the silver face on the front, is it duct tape too? Did you use red duct tape over everything?

Hey Martha, I traced out the dragon on cardstock paper then spray painted silver. Yes I used red duct tape on everything! took 3 rolls.

a small basket from the dollar tree with a cereal bowl on top to give it more shape

yes just cut in half and we carved holes for his fingers to fit so he could hold on

I love it! You are so creative! I tried to make a Lego Ninjago guy last year but had a few issues. I struggled with how to attach/keep the legs on. How did you attach them? The arms are great too - what are they made of? Really well done.

the legs/feet are made just like boots. the arms are pvc pipe.
