Pirate and his Ship Costume

This is a photo of my son and I wearing our pirate garb for Halloween 2014. He is five and obsessed with pirates so he begged me to make him a pirate ship to go trick or treating with. The clothing was pre-made although I did a lot of alterations via sewing machine and glue gun to make it look great. The ship was homemade. There is not really a how-to but for a lot of trial and error, boxes, foam board, spray paint, yarn, duck tape, and looking at a lot of pirate ships - cartoons, paintings, toys, etc and thinking up how to recreate them.
