A word from Eric, the 'Skull Kid' costume creator:
I made this costume for my son. Skull Kid is an enemy in the video game The Legend of Zelda: Majora's Mask. I hand carved the mask out of pine wood and painted it with acrylics. The hat was made on top of an old brimless baseball cap. Orange foam and a wire frame was glued on top of it and shower curtain rings and rope line the bottom of it. For the gloves i stitched the orange foam to a pair of winter gloves, cut off the fingers and spray painted it green. I glued orange foam to a pair of old flip flops my son had for the shoes. The neck piece is cut and spray painted foam pieces. The belt is made from shower curtain rings and rope. The shorts are pants I cut to look old and tattered. The shorts are pants I cut to look old and tattered. The whole costume probably cost about $50-$60 to make.
