Tarantula Boy Costume

My son has always had a love for bugs, especially spiders. So when he asked to be one for Halloween I had a lot of work ahead of me! It really started when he found the perfect spider mask, we just needed an authentic suit to go with it. I started out with a black body suit that I cut down the chest to add a zipper (for easy in and out!) I found some great brown spider like hairy fabric at the craft store. I also picked up plain black fabric for the extra legs. I cut the hairy fabric to the size of the torso of the body suit (front and back) and used hot glue to secure it on the body suit. My son obviously already has four limbs so I only needed 4 more, 2 on each side. I cut out an arms length additional arm X 4. Then hand threaded 2 to each side of the torso. Once attached I stuffed the extra arms with normal pillow fluff from the craft store. I added more hairy fabric to the arms after. The final touch was making all the arms move together. I did so by threading a thicker brown thread through my sons sleeve down through the 3rd limb. When he moved his arms they moved together it was fantastic! By far the hardest costume I've made but certainly got the most attention!
