This homemade costume for boys entered our 2015 Halloween Costume Contest.
A word from Peter, the 'Transformers Optimus Prime' costume creator:
My 4 year old son Brendan is wearing his Optimus Prime costume. He originally wanted Bumblebee, but a few weeks ago changed his mind to Optimus Prime.
The costume is made of carboard, PVC, and styrofoam. There are 4 LED lights above the windshield.
I asked my son how he wanted to transform, and in his transformed position I stenciled an outline of his body. From there I drew a rough sketch of Optimus Prime around his body. I then transferred the sketch to other pieces of cardboard which I had double up for added strength.
I used styrofoam blocks covered with foil tape to create the fuel tanks and covered some PVC pipe in foil tape for the smoke stacks.
