This homemade costume for couples entered our 2013 Halloween Costume Contest.
A word from Jeannie, the 'Beauty and the Beast' costume creator:
A different twist on Beauty and the Beast! My husband is such a good sport to go along with my crazy ideas. Beauty’s gown is made from inexpensive yellow costume fabric from JoAnn's with yellow netting gathered and attached to the skirt and around the neckline. (How many wives can say that they’ve made a yellow ball gown for their husband?!) I used a wig and old hair pieces I had from high school for “her” hair. The finishing touches are children’s jewelry from the dollar store.
For the Beast’s face, I found a picture of his face on-line that I printed off and glued to brown craft foam. I then attached elastic to go around my head. I used brown craft fur for my wig and also used small pieces pinned to the sleeves to partially cover my hands. I used inexpensive costume fabric for the vest, jacket, and neck scarf. I attached gold ribbon to a pair of pants I had to finish the outfit.
Needless to say, my “Beauty” was the hit of the party
