A word from Megan, the 'The Rocky Horror Picture Show Eddie and Columbia' costume creator:
Here we have my boyfriend, Chris, and I, dressed as Eddie and Columbia from the Rocky Horror Picture Show. Chris's costume was pretty simple. He wore just regular jeans and a t shirt, and I made his vest. The vest was an $8 thrift shop find, which I painted the sun and "baby" design on the back with yellow and red acrylic paint and went over the top of that with mod podge glue to give it a glossy finish. I also sewed on a chain and super glued on some white studs that were on an old belt that I had. For his makeup, I created a black eye with brown, red, purple, and black eye shadows, and black eyeliner on the other eye. For his forehead gash, I used "creepy skin" (you can find this at any costume store or your town's Halloween Store", along with the same eye shadows i used for the black eye and fake blood to top it off.
For my Columbia costume, I started with the tophat. The tophat I used was from Michael's in the Halloween section and it originally had black tulle and a big black spider on the front. I removed all of that and covered it in gold/rainbow sequin fabric that I got at Jo-Ann's Fabric. I used a spray adhesive and hot glue to attach it. I used the same sequin fabric on the tailcoat. This tailcoat was originally plain black, and I attached the fabric with spray adhesive and hot glue, then a good friend of mine sewed around the edges to prevent it from coming off. The shorts were $10 at Styles for Less, and I cut strips of colored felt and hot glued them on to create Columbia's signature striped shorts. I topped the whole look off with a dark purple corset, fishnet tights, and black heeled ankle boots. For my makeup, I blocked out my eye brows using a purple Elmer's Glue stick and went over top of that with a red lip pencil. This is a really simple look that only needs foundation, blush, liquid eye liner, and red lipstick.
Chris and I wore our costumes to the Ferndale Repertory Theatre's production of The Rocky Horror Show and won the costume contest for that night :-)
