A word from Veronica, the 'Cuphead, Mugman, Chalice' costume creator:

My son is Cuphead, my husband is Mugman and I am Chalice.

My son really wanted to be Cuphead and after looking at the store bought costumes and browsing online I thought I could make his costume instead.
We used a small laundry basket for each cup and cut a hole out of the bottom. We then had to come up with a way for the cup to stay positioned when moving our heads so we took the suspension system out of a hard hat and tied it to the basket. This worked great because it was custom fit to our heads and we didn't have to worry about the cup toppling over. We then covered the basket with colored fabric using multipurpose adhesive spray. we had to cut out the nose so we could use that area to see out of. I used colored netting to emphasize the nose and outlined it colored felt. For the eyes and mouth I used colored felt. I used the adhesive spray for this as well. I cut a small Styrofoam wreath in half and used those for the handles. I painted them to match the cup color. I used paper towel rolls for the straws and painted those as well. In order for the straws to stay in place I cut out some foam and cut a very small hole to put the straw in. We used clothes we had at home to finish up the look of these characters.

Materials:
laundry basket
fabric
felt
netting
paper towel roll
paint
Styrofoam wreath
adhesive spray

I love your costumes! How did you attach the foam to the basket, that you inserted the straw into?

Thank you!
