A word from Ashley, the 'Green Ninja Lloyd and Sensei Wu' costume creator:

My son loves all things Lego and especially all things Ninjago so he decided he wanted to be the Green Ninja (Lloyd Garmadon) for Halloween. So since Lloyd is a Lego ninja, a simple ninja outfit was not going to work and thus my challenge began!

The body of the costume was actually the easiest part as it was made of a box shaped in at the top to look like a Lego mini-figure. Then I used A LOT of green duct tape to make it green and waterproof/solid at the same time. the white and black are paint markers but all the gold is also duct tape. I used red solo cups cut up and shaped to give the gold flare on the shoulders.
The hands were kuzi can holders cut open and also covered in duct tape. This I found from other lego mini-figure costumes on line.

The biggest challenge as the helmet. This took much trial and error I have to admit. I ended up using a plastic bowl from the party store that we had in the basement for the top and a small laundry basket cut a part for the bottom. I then again used A LOT of green duct tape to hold it all together. The yellow face is a kids 'needle craft' piece of plastic I painted yellow and added his eyes. And I finished it off with green felt to cover his mouth, shaped and held in place with pipe cleaners. I did need to add quite a bit of material inside to make it comfy enough for a five year old to wear it :)

Thankfully Sensei Wu's costume was much easier (or perhaps I was just out of time so it had to be!). His head is also shaped from a laundry basket using a large amount of yellow duct tape. I did the face the same way as my son's and then sewed his beard and mustache and stuffed with pillow stuffing. His body is simply cardboard taped together with - you guessed it - white duct tape :)and then I painted on his belt and details. It simply sat on his shoulders, but it worked out well. His hands were also kuzi can holders taped yellow.

The two of them truly were a hit at our local parade and had lots of kids actually coming up to them to take pictures with them! My son thought he was the coolest kid ever - so I felt like a pretty cool mom :)
