Ninja Turtles Family Costume

We are a family of 4 (David, Esther, David Jr. and Andrew) My kids love the movie Ninja Turtles launched in 2014. Since we are a family of 4 and 4 are the Ninja Turtles... We went for this theme.
I decided to use the green lycra to wrap the entire body and add muscle to them just like those that you buy at the store. I made my own patterns and once I finished the 4 bodies I painted the muscles with fabric paint to enhance the muscles in arms and chest. I made the "samurai skirt" for Donatello with black vinyl and painted rectangles en each panel with blue acrylic to simulate the solar panels. I used fabric and acrylic paint for Leonardo's skirt and a leather belt and fabric for Raphael's skirt. The shells were made out of cardboard. I traced hexagons and pentagons which I glued together with a glue gun to give it the shape. I gave a first coat with black acrylic to the whole shells and once it dried, I added clear embosser paint to each hexagon to give texture. I painted by hand each shell with acrylic paint to give it more realistic look and finished it with a layer of clear varnish to make them shiny. I attached a leather belt to each shell and I ended up dressing each ninja turtle with other accessories we had at home like goggles, knee pads, shoulder pads, etc, to finish each character. The cost per outfit was around $80.00 each
Lots of hours on each but It was totally worth it!!!
