A word from Lisa, the 'Rockford Peaches' costume creator:
Who doesn't love the movie "A League of Their Own"? I saw a woman in a Rockford Peach costume 5 years ago and fell in love, until I looked them up and saw the price tag. I made all 5 costumes for around $25, not including what we used around the house. The participants are myself, my husband, and my three children. The hats are Nebraska Cornhusker hats with a homemade patch (white felt) pinned on. The Rockford Peaches patches and arm patches are also made out of white felt, with Sharpie detail, and sewed on. The belts are red Christmas ribbon (there are white trees on the other side) pinned around our waists. My husband's pants were found in the lady's section at a thrift store and the peach material for the uniforms was found very cheap at Joann's Fabric. I borrowed an old skirt pattern from my mom to make the skirts (added an extra panel or two to mine) and an old shirt pattern as well. I added velcro to the fronts of the shirts to keep them shut and sewed red numbers to the backs. My husband's shirt is a plain white tee that was cut around the collar and down the front, and a red piece of material was folded, inserted in the cut, and then sewed back together. Stilwell Angel's shorts were made with cheap material, also from Joann's, his suspenders were borrowed, and I made a cheap bow tie out of leftover material. We found the red tights and socks in our own dresser drawers.
