The Wizard of Oz Family Costume

The whole idea to dress up my family in a Wizard of Oz theme costumes came from my 3 year old son. He wanted to be a robot for Halloween. I had to make 4 costumes and The Wizard of Oz was the perfect theme that included a "robot". My son excitedly agreed to dress up as Tin Man because he liked the way that "robot" looked lol. I made all four costumes and we got so many compliments from a lot of people and trick or treater's! Some people gave my sons extra candy for being the cutest costumes they had seen. I had so much fun making the costumes and it was surprisingly cheap to make! I spent about $60 to make all 4 of them (I had some items to use)
Dorothy costume:
- Light blue checkered fabric that I purchased from Walmart.
- Light blue tule for my tutu also purchased at Walmart
- Stretchy band to make the skirt (make the dress stay in place)
- Podge Modge and Red glitter to accesorize some old flats that I had.
- Red ribbon for extra decoration of my dress and hair bows.
- White tights (it was really cold)
- My basket was made last minute out of a basket I already had and leftover checked fabric.
Tin Man Costume:
- Diaper Box
- Hot glue/ glue gun
- Grey jacket suit purchased at Walmart
- Old shoes (willing to spray paint)
- Grey face paint
- Funnel cone use for oil (car stuff)
- Silver spray paint for box, shoes
Cowardly Lion:
- Bear costume purchased at Walmart (it was made out of thick fabric compared to the lion costumes. It was the most "expensive" $14 item to purchase to make these 4 costumes.)
- My old tan colored jacket I used the furr to make the lion's hair
- My black liquid eye liner for the nose
Scare Crow Costume:
- Green Hanes sweat shirt from Walmart
- The hay for the scare crow look purchad at Dollar Tree
- Hat was made out of a giant party hat and a garden hat both purchased at Dollar Tree! Then I used an old black shirt to cover the whole thing.
- Glue gun/ glue
- My black liquid eye liner for the nose
- A pair of jeans he already had
- Cowboy boots he already had
