A word from Cindy, the 'Ursula and Steampunk Ariel' costume creator:
I am wearing the Ursula, my daughter Brittany is Ariel. Both costumes are completely homemade. My daughter does a lot of leather work and loves to create! Both costumes cost less than 100.00 to make. Ursulas tentacles were made with a performance fabric and stuffed. A couple of them have wire sewn in so they could be formed. Flutsum and Jetsum also have wire in them to give them body. I curled up a small string of LED lights into each yellow eye of them and my necklace and they lit up in the dark. Ariels Trident is also lit at night. She created barnacles and starfish out of Sculpy to enhance the look. We wore these costumes to the Myths and Legends weekend at the PA Renaisance Faire and I can't tell you how many compliments and photos we received!
