This homemade costume for girls entered our 2014 Halloween Costume Contest.

A word from Brooke, the 'Effie Trinket from Hunger Games' costume creator:

My daughter Ashleigh dressed up as Effie Trinket from the Hunger Games. We made her costume by printing out a butterfly image on iron-on transfer paper and applied them to an old black dress. I printed additional butterflies of different sizes, cut them out, pasted them together so they would be double-sided and hot glued them around the collar of the dress. The hairpiece was made by gluing a small black shoulder pad to a hair comb for the base. I then added pieces of wire, stuck through the base and covered with black drink stirrers and hot glued additional butterflies of varying sizes to them. We purchased a wig, black lace gloves, and false eyelashes that were the most expensive pieces of the costume. She added some white tights, black shoes and a black belt. She did her make-up and glued small cut out butterflies to her face and arms for the finishing touches.

This is amazing! Is there any chance at all you would consider selling your costume? Thanks so much!
Please let me know!

Sorry, we just found an opportunity for her to wear it again, so we plan to hang on to it. Thanks!

So awesome! How many iron on transfer sheets did it take you to fill the dress? SO CREATIVE!! LOVE it - I have been working on one for Halloween.

Thanks. It looks like I used about 15. I think they come 5 to a pack. Try to get them at a craft store when they have 50% off coupon. It really helps keep the cost down.

I have a few questions
1) How many iron on sheets did you use
2) Where did you find that pattern
3) Did you purchase the gloves online

I am making this for a show and want to know if this can be done in a week....

1. I think 15 (see above).
2. Spoonflower.com
3. Gloves and wig were bought at PartyWorks; however, I have seen lace gloves at a $1 store recently for Halloween.

It can definitely be done in a week!

This is really awesome! I'm definitely going to try this!
I only have one question, where did you find the image of the butterflies that you've glued on the dress?
