A word from Adam, the 'Minion' costume creator:
My 11 year old daughter loves the Despicable Me Minions and asked if I could buy her one of the available costumes this year. After searching the internet and viewing the options, I finally decided that making the costume would be more fun and would give us a chance to spend some time together. About 40 hours and $150 later it was done. We used shower plastic surround material from Menards for the body, fabric, paint markers, a craft eye ball from Joanne Fabrics. Cut the same material from the body to form the goggle and used wire cable for the hair. We re-enforced the inside of the body with plastic rings and attached the straps we cut off of a backpack from goodwill so she could wear it. To top it off, we purchased a voice changer and attached it inside the costume so when she spoke she sounded like the character.
She was a huge hit at her 5th grade halloween party and even won first place. Kids swarmed her to pose for pictures with her. Afterwards, she said "Daddy. Now I know what Chuck E Cheese feels like!"
