A word from Cheri, the 'Purple Fairy' costume creator:

My daughter Kayleigh is wearing the purple fairy costume. She wanted to be a dark purple fairy, so I used tattered wings, and hand glued black and silver glitter leaves, purple Christmas picks from Michaels crafts, purple hydrangeas, and black flowers to the wings. I then used a dollar store headband and repeated the process with leaves, flowers and small cut pieces of the purple Christmas decorations, layering them with a hot glue gun. I bought the costume at Walmart for $24.98. The wings were $16.99, and the flowers, leaves, and decorations cost me approximately $8.00. I used Halloween makeup in coordinating colors, eyeshadow, black, and glitter eyeliner. The glitter eyeliner was horrible to work with and didn't apply easily. I gave her a set of costume fairy eyelashes which cost me $3.99. They were extremely easy to apply. If I were to do this again, I would suggest more glitter, and possibly some stick on jewels to adorn her face, and the wings. The glue is a mess so work in an area where you can protect the surface your're working on. I've made similar costumes in the past and also made a belt covered in flowers, and gloves with flowers on the wrists. She wanted more mobility this time and decided less was better. This costume was fun and easy to assemble. It only took a bit of creativity and a couple of hours of my time. The makeup actually took just as long as making the accessories. You could add a choker, and boots for a more custom look.
