A word from Dustin, the 'Sally from The Nightmare Before Christmas' costume creator:
This is my daughter Makayla. She has cerebral palsy and cannot walk so each year I make her a wheelchair type costume. This year she is Sally from The Nightmare Before Christmas and I dressed up as Jack skeleton with her. The dress and wig she is wearing is a bought costume, the stitches are drawn on with Halloween makeup, but the sleigh is made from the ground up. it is made of an aluminum trash can, wood, wheels from a wagon, felt, a plastic storage container, and conduit. I made the coffin completely out of wood. After constructing the coffin I bolted on the wheel to the bottom of the coffin. After beating the trash can up with a hammer I ripped up same tape and put on it to give is an older trashy look, then I painted it with black and silver paint. I attached the trash can to the back with some screws. I drilled some holes through the trashcan and ran the to pieces of conduit through and attached them to the coffin to use as push handles. The sleigh runners are made from conduit and attached with self tapping screws. All the conduit was bent to shape with a conduit bender. The trim around the bottom of the coffin is just plastic from a plastic storage container cut out and stapled on the little scary faces on the front of the runners is just wood cut out and with a screw left sticking out on the bottom and epoxied in place. The plastic and runners were are painted with silver paint and I used a propane torch on the coffin to give it a patina.
