The Claw Costume

This is my daughter Mya wearing the claw costume. She is addicted to playing these games everywhere we go. My sister saw a similar picture circulating on Facebook and tagged me in it knowing Mya would LOVE it.

The costume is fairly easy to make. First you need the right sized box. Measure to see where you need to make your cuts depending on the size of the person wearing it. Spray paint the box. I got battery operated lights on Amazon (about $6 for the string of lights). The letter we and stars we purchased at Walmart. My husband cut holes in the box and stars to pop the light bulbs through to hide the wire. We used cello wrap to cover the windows and silver wrapping paper for the background (both purchased at the Dollar Tree). The claw is pipe cleaners and tin foil. We tide a backpack on the back wall of the box so she can hold the box up with comfort. I printed life-like photos of the "insert dollar here" area and the quarter slots. I'd say the whole thing took an hour to cut windows and paint. Then about 3 hours to design and decorate and roughly $30 with the paint, lights and stickers.
