Cobra Costume

This is the costume I made for my son. He is obsessed with reptiles/bugs/creepy crawly things etc. and wanted to be a cobra for Halloween last year, so here it is! I used no pattern, just the ideas in my head. Stretchy reptile print brown/black fabric from JoAnns, fiber fill and quilt batting for the tail (almost 5 ft long!) and garden fencing covered with fabric for the cobra "hood'. I used felt for the eyes and eye spots on the back of the hood. The weight of the tail was so much that it would have put too much weight on the back of the sheath/body part of the costume, so I actually had sewn a casing at the end of the tail for a belt to be fed through so it could be worn around my son's waist to support the weight.
