Domo Costume

Katie is a huge fan of Domo-Kun a small brown open-mouthed monster. She won a stuffed Domo at Dave and Busters and said, Hey! I can be Domo for Halloween!

Domo started out as a TV box that we adapted with white styrofoam poster board. We needed the poster board to make the box deep enough for a body to fit in. Off to the fabric store for 5 yards of brown fleece, white felt, red felt and black cotton. We basically made a 3 dimensional pillow case to fit over the top of the box and just cut holes for the head at the top and two holes on the sides for the arms. We also took 2 inch foam rubber and sewed it into sausage shapes for the arms. We followed up with a quick pair of pajama drawstring style pants and Wallah! The most difficult part was the hat. We basically used a regular size baseball hat as a pattern and just multiplied it 4 times. We then cut out eye holes and lined them with black screening so you can see! The mouth has a slit in it so you can still get candy and when trick or treating you stick your red gloved hand through the mouth and pull it inside! Yum! The outfit took a good three weeks to tweak it and get it right! I think it turned out just AWESOME! Only glitch is it's real hard to get up if you fall down. Believe me! I Know. It also flattens all your candy too!
