A word from Tracy, the 'Lloyd / Harry and Petey' costume creator:
My kids, Cooper and Wyatt, were inspired while watching "Dumb and Dumber" on TV for the first time. I began collecting items for the costumes. For Petey, we found onesie pajamas at a thrift shop. I bought fabric and feathers at a fabric store and sewed the fabric to make the wings and then added the feathers with hot glue and attached them to the onesie with velcro. I ordered a bird head online and painted it to be the right colors. I wrapped batting and duct tape around the neck.
For Lloyd/Harry, I bought clothes at a thrift store. I found a motorcycle helmet on a local consignment site. My son had liquid latex under his nose for the fake frozen boogers mixed with face paint. We got black teeth paint to make the broken tooth. To make Harry, I stuffed a backpack with a pillow and attached stuffed jeans to it. I sewed the legs to be in a bent position. The backpack was sewn through both jackets. His head was made from a foam head from a craft store. I painted it and added a wig. I painted an old bike helmet and added safety goggles and painted fake bookers on as well. I got fake plastic hands and glued them to the jacket sleeves. I made the briefcase out of a gift box from a clothing store. Lloyd topped it off with the pair of extra gloves. My boys loved it!
