This homemade costume for kids entered our 2013 Halloween Costume Contest.

A word from Candace, the 'Tree' costume creator:

My niece Celestine is wearing a tree costume that I made for her. I made this costume completely from scratch using foam, fabric, paint, fall leaf garland, wire hangers, and hot glue. My niece came up with the idea to be a tree because My daughter and I decided we would be a squirrel and an acorn and she wanted to be part of the theme! I attached the leaf garland to foam rings and added wire hangers for stability. I painted "bark" onto brown fleece fabric and cut 2 arm holes and a face hole. I then used fabric and ribbon to create 2 owl holes in the tree, and attached 2 wooded owls. I attached the fabric the foam rings that my niece wore as a "hat". And thats it! She really loves this costume and gets compliments every time she wears it! It's definately a huge hit! :)

Any chance I could get more detailed instructions? I'm a theatre teacher who would like to make this for a play I'm working on. Thank you.

This is the most incredible tree! Would love to re-create but not sure how to do the top part where it will stay on my head. Any tips are greatly appreciated as to how you made this. Thanks so much!!

Hi. My grandson. Wants to be a tree with bats. Lol. Would love to make this for him. I'm pretty sure I have the general concept. But if you have a little more info would be great. Thanks in advance

Hello! Fourth grade teacher here, would love to make your outstanding tree costume for Halloween! We read Wish Tree and stuff the Redwoods so this is perfect!
Do you have an outline I could follow to make this?
Thank you so much!

Whart a fabulous costume- My pastor just asked me today if I could make a tree costume for a church function. I have made a lot of costumes for my children over the years. I would love for you to explain how you did the head and "hat". I understand if you do not have the time or want to share your pattern, but thought that I would ask. Thank you so very much.
