A word from Michael, the 'Edward Scissorhands' costume creator:
I am wearing the costume and made it by using appropriately colored clothes, electrical tape around forearms and neck to mimick patent leather, premade glove scissorhands, the rest was done with make up. First I blocked out my eyebrows using the gluestick method. Then concealer to blend to the color of the foundation that went on next. Here i just used one for someone w light skin tone. Next, using regular brown black and white halloween paint I mixed up a shade that i could use for the eyes. The key here is to use natural tones to look more authentic... Most people go white a white face with blue/black/purpleish color and just end up looking like a weird clown. After the make up is on its time for the face scars. I used a movie photo for proper placement and used halloween scar putty that comes in a little disc. I apply by putting a little on an edge of a putty knife and doing a drag down my skin with its edge. After I thinly darken using some of the eye color mix on only the bottom or left of each sides to make the scars pop. Lastly for the lips i just add some red to the mix to give a slight tinge of color. Now either grow out your hair like me or get a wig that would work and use lots of hairspray to get the right look all teased out.
