A word from Adriana, the 'Yo Gabba Gabba Plex' costume creator:
My husband, Adrian is wearing the costume. This is the first year he decided to dress up with my son and I so I wanted to make sure his costume was amazing so he could do it again next year! Our 2-year-old absolutely loves Yo Gabba Gabba and for some reason I thought Plex would be the easiest to make. I went to my local hardware store and purchased a large sheet of styrofoam (not exactly sure what it's actually intended for) that I realized I could bend to my liking so I used it for the base and taped it together with duct tape. I covered the entire thing with felt. I also made the shoe cover out of felt. I cut out a whole for his speaker and box. I made a box with a flap that would open from an Amazon shipping box we had and filled in the speakers with foam. I made his face out of a see-through black material (I cut out where his face would be) and cut his eyes out of white foam. I cut our his ears and top area out of the same styrofoam material and covered it with foil. I finished off the ears with toilet paper rolls. The antennas are made out of a long wooden stick, sold at the craft store, that I painted black. For the main antenna I glued four pieces of the stick together and covered it in black felt. I got a large styrofoam ball and painted it read and placed it on the larger antenna. For the arms we used an HVAC flexible tubing. The hands I made using dollar store robot hands, they actually open and close, I glued on larger hands that I cut out of the styrofoam sheet and covered it in felt. I had so much fun making this but it was definitely a lot of work. My son absolutely loved it so it made it all worthwhile.
