A word from Patricia, the 'Easy Cheese' costume creator:
Riedi Clements – Can of Easy Cheese!
"Easy Cheese Incident"- When Riedi was about two, I accidentally left the easy cheese can on the sofa while I checked on my dinner in the kitchen. A few minutes later I heard a hissing noise coming from the living room!!! Riedi had bitten into the easy cheese canister and cheese was spurting out all over the ceiling, walls and all over Riedi. He was lapping it up as fast as he could!! This year I thought I would dress him up as his favorite treat: Easy Cheese!!
Costume:
I do not sew, so the outfit was a bit tricky and my first attempt at sewing a hat for him did not work.
Materials:
- Child's t-shirt
- Felt squares (Orange - 2, white, red, yellow, tan & blue)
- Heat 'n Bond
- Orange yarn
- Cheap birthday hat
- elastic
I found a picture of a can of Easy Cheese online and made several enlarged copies. I used them as the template and cut out the different pieces of felt. Since I don't sew, I used Heat 'n Bond to glue it all on the back of the t-shirt. I then glued the orange string around the front and back – since he was really a punctured can of easy cheese and cheese was everywhere! I made a small cut in the bottom hem of the t-shirt and threaded the elastic through and knotted it to give it some form. Hat: I used a small cheap birthday hat as the base for his hat. I cut the orange felt and stapled it to the outside of the birthday hat and stapled extra elastic to it to make it stay better. I even stapled a piece of yarn to the hat, so cheese was coming out of it... When I took him out, I even cut some extra strands of yarn and put it in my hair. So it looked like there was cheese everywhere!
