This homemade costume for women entered our 2016 Halloween Costume Contest.
A word from Brooke, the 'Carmen Miranda' costume creator:
I Made this costume over 3 months. I used Purple Poly poplin as the front facing and a poly cotton blend ads the lining. The dress needed some weight so that the ruffles lay appropriately. The headdress is the same poly poplin but, with a satin lining. Buckram base and a foam build on top to house the plastic fruit and silk flower. Headdress weighs about 3 pounds. The Corset was not made by me, it was a gift.I anted something to be reminiscent of Carmen, and not and exact copy. I am happy with the results
