This homemade costume for women entered our 2013 Halloween Costume Contest.
A word from Holly Ruth, the 'Crazy Cat Lady' costume creator:
Holly Ruth wears the Crazy Cat Lady costume... She sewed it in the art room at the Job Corps in Astoria, OR in 2005. Stuffed animal cats have been lightly stitched onto the fabric for easy "rip & throw" The song "Raus mit den mannern aus dem Reichstag" means "Out with the men of Reichstag" but she removed the word "men" and replaced it with "cats" It is a reference to the Bubonic Plague when many perished and it was perpetuated in part by cat discrimination. Cats were murdered in masse and therefor the rats who carried the disease carrying flea went without a natural predator. Crazy Cat Lady costume is worn in this music video that shows a piece of this history...
