Medusa Costume

I wanted to make an authentic looking Medusa costume, since all store bought ones look awful! I used an old Roman/Greek gown that I had an added snake print cloth to it for my dress. The head piece was a little trickier! I used a black wig that a sheared all the hair down on and was able to make the snakes using different materials from a local hardware store. I used foam tubing with wires inserted and I then covered them with more of the snakeskin fabric I had. I also used some regular foam as snakes to help mix up the design. I attached all the snakes to the wig using a hot glue gun. I was able to pick up different snake jewelry at a party store and the finishing touch was a pair of snake eye contacts. My costume was the hit of the party! Nobody could believe that I had made it!
