Paper Doll Costume

This costume was so easy to make!

You will need cardboard, acrylic paint, an idea of what to wear, Velcro strips,and Scissors.

I went to a local bakery's cardboard dumpster ( businesses usually have excess cardboard of larger sizes) I took a large box and a medium size box home.
Once home, I traced my body on the large box. After I had the outline, I made a fashion dress with cute pleats on it. Took acrylic paint and made it look like the paper doll dresses from the 1950's books ( flat, but with some dimension)

For the Bow: Bubble shaped. Like Minnie Mouse bow, but more exaggerated, because you want to feel like a doll wearing a cartoon accessory. Paint it with acrylic paint, and add dimension.


To make it all stay: take the scissors and make two holes by the shoulder ( each hold is about one inch apart) repeat on the other side.
Now make two hols just above the armpit/ breast bump out, about one inch apart (repeat on the other side).
Now from the back, push the Velcro strip through to the front and out the other hole. Repeat this sewing step on the remaining 3 areas. The back will leave you with the ability to now make your own size loops for your arms to go into and keep this cardboard secure.

The secure the bow: On either side of the middle circle, make two small slits for the Velcro to go through ( like the above steps) you will then be able to secure it around your head all the way to the back.
