This homemade costume for women entered our 2012 Halloween Costume Contest.

A word from Amanda, the 'Peacock' costume creator:

I created this costume by making a simple tutu out of various colors of tulle, glueing peacock feathers all over a corset and getting long peacock steams from my local zoo and attaching them to the back of my corset in a fan-like shape!! I finished off with some matching makeup, black rights and cute black boots! I was the ONLY peacock out for Halloween and got many compliments on this costume! People were even asking to take pictures with me which was very flattering :) Trying to top it this year will be hard :)

How many feathers did you use? For the back and the corset?

Im actually making one for halloween this year. And the most difficult spot is covering the boob section. How did you do yours?

I ended up buying A bag of black feathers and gluing them in any areas that weren't covered....did this all the way around and worked well! I also bought a mass quantity of feathers from eBay and got the long ones from my local zoo for $1.00 a piece found this to be cheaper than the craft store. And for the back I found a cheap $1.00 kids wooden mask thats attached to a stick at the craft store and glued the long feathers in a fan shape to the mask and filled the rest in with black feathers..and then stuck it in the back of my corset...it stayed wonderfully and I was also able to remove it when I needed to with no issues!. My email is mandeemor21[at]gmail.com if you have any other questions :)
