A word from Ashley, the 'Cotton Candy Pug' costume creator:
After getting skunked in the local dog contest last year, I decided I wanted something really original for me dog this year. Food costumes make great pet costumes and I was inspired to make a bag of cotton candy when I went to the circus this year.
Materials needed:
- clear basket gift wrap bag
- poly fill (or pillow stuffing)
- pink and blue spray paint
- hole punch circle re-enforcers
- ribbon
- marker (for the words)
- tape
- box cutter and scissors
First, my husband spray painted the poly fill to make it look like the fluffy cotton candy. It only took 1 can of each. Next, I cut the gift wrap so that it was open on both sides. I added the hole punch circled to both ends and used a box cutter to make a slit in the middle for the ribbon. Then I cut circles on one side and reinforced them with tape. This was where his front feet went. Then I used a maker to write "cotton candy" on the back of the bag. Lastly I ran the ribbon through the holes.
My dog was good when I put it on him. First the bag and tie the ribbon in the back. Next my husband stuffed the bag with the colored poly fill. He made sure to blend the colors well. I then tied it shut with the ribbon in the front.
Overall the project was fun and simple. Everyone loved his costume
