A word from Anika, the 'Count Dracula' costume creator:
The costume is being worn by my boyfriend, Lee. We both love Halloween and the idea of dressing up and enjoying showing off his creativity. He loves scaring people and seeing his family's reaction when we walk into his moms Halloween party every year with something new and scary, which she has every year. His family is all about Halloween and the thought of being scared, i mean whats Halloween without a little scare here and there. We both came up with Dracula when we were watching that movie one night. It took him weeks to set it up, I did help of course! He set up a mannequin using PVC pipes, we used pillows as the body, and we found spandex for the body suit. He airbrushed the color onto the spandex and wings for the costume. We bought upholstery used for the car seats and carved muscles out of of it and added it under the spandex. He made his own stilts watching youtube videos to make his costume about almost 8 feet tall. We sowed Velcro to the spandex and also to this rug that we found for the hair for this costume, so it would be easy for the hair to stick and stay in place. The last thing we did was add the details to the body with the air brush which took two days of hardly any sleep, but the end result was awesome. We took the costume out for three days and the reactions of the people was ridiculous. Everyone was stopping us for pictures and giving us thumbs up. Walking down the streets scaring people was a plus, but walking into his moms backyard where the kids were carving pumpkins and the adults having their own fun sitting down chatting, to some kids screaming, adults in awe, and everyone else running to him to take pictures. This was a long process and of course it took a lot of his personal time to create it. It also cost us about 200 for materials to build this costume. Hope you enjoy the photos!!
