Halloween is one of the most magical times of the year. The leaves still have a few yellow gold leaves clinging to them, and the weather is just warm enough to avoid the chills associated with winter. It's also a time when creative Halloween costumes pop up for a fun night of Trick-or-Treating. These young girls have made some truly unique costumes that will have you wondering how they manage to have such a big imagination!
Medusa
Sent in by Carrie to our 2013 costume contest.
Not many children know their Greek mythological figures, but this girl got her Medusa on. This creative costume brings this Greek villainess to life with a tangle of hissing snakes tucked carefully into her stunningly green hair. The gold bangles and necklace, along with the traditional Roman toga, really bring it all together. She even had snake scales painted on her hairline!
La Muerte
Sent in by Mayda to our 2014 costume contest.
For a truly eye-catching costume, this girl decided to dress up as La Muerte from The Book of Life! The Mexican holiday, otherwise known as Day of the Dead, falls on the same day Halloween does. The large sombrero decorated with skulls and an ascending array of candles is absolutely amazing, and the candles also trail along the hem of her dress. Her painted eyelids solidify her spot in the top creative costumes for this year. It's hard to outdo a costume that has so much going on!
Fabulous Rain Cloud
Sent in by Malin to our 2013 costume contest.
Most times, no one likes a dreary little rain cloud hanging around. Then again, I don't think anyone's seen a rain cloud as adorable as this one. This creative girl took all the tulle fabric she could find and carefully pinned it into a rain cloud hat with a fabulously crafted dress made from the same. We just love the drops of rain made from glass beads; it adds such a wonderful finishing touch that really defines the costume.
Starbucks Vanilla Latte
Sent in by Alicia to our 2013 costume contest.
Everyone loves a good Starbucks latte with whipped cream on top. This young girl decided to go as everyone's favorite beverage, though we're not sure if she's supposed to be hot, iced or blended. She even has a coffee cup hairpiece with a cute little straw in it, and the giant Starbucks logo means no one will mistake her for rival coffee drinks like Caribou or Dunkin Donuts. This barista-in-training is taking her coffee very seriously this Halloween.
Voo Doo Doll
Sent in by Jessica to our 2012 costume contest.
Thank goodness those pins aren't real! This Voodoo Doll girl went all out on her costume as one of Louisiana's most notorious pieces of history. Using the pockets of her dress as eyes and her hair twisted into a pin cushion, her voodoo powers should make even the bravest Halloween souls beware. Watch out! This magical miss might just cast a spell on you. Let's just hope it's a good one.
