Cuddly Cactus Costume

My 2 year old daughter, Edie, asked to be a cactus for Halloween. I thought it was the cutest request ever so I needed to make it happened! I knew it needed to be soft or else she would not wear it and all my efforts would go to waste. To make the body, I used an adult t-shirt and sewed in cotton piping to give it texture. For the spikes, I made tassels from cotton rope. For the hat, I shortened a men's beanie and sewed panels from a second green t-shirt. To keep things easy on the hat, I hot-glued fabric around the cotton piping and then glued those onto the hat. Top it off with a few flowers and you are done. Edie loved her costume and felt so confident in it!
