A word from Ratarah, the 'Cupcakes and Baker' costume creator:
My husband and 6 month old baby are the cupcakes, and mommy is the baker! For my husband's costume, I used a black storage tub with rope handles from Walmart ($12) and an oversized white T-shirt ($5). I cut the bottom of the tub out, then took neon pink posterboard (3 sheets @ $2 each) and folded them like an accordian. I used a hot glue gun and glued the folds of the posterboard just under the lip of the tub. I purchased a large bag of polyfil ($12) from Walmart, and this was enough for both costumes. I covered the T-shirt and a $2 white beanie with the polyfil using hot glue. I then took some colored foam sheets (pack of 16 for $2) and cut them up, and used a couple packages ($2 each) of colored pompoms to make the sprinkles. I hot glued those on, too! My husband is wearing colorful leggings ($11) from Walmart.
For my baby's costume, I used a lampshade from Walmart that would fit her ($5), and turned it upside down. I hot glued polyfil to it and a white baby beanie ($2) and added the cut up foam pieces and pompoms to them as well. I bought another neon pink posterboard and cut it in thirds to be the heighth of the lampshade, and then folded the strips like an accordian and glued the folds to the lampshade. I used a tube of silver glitter glue ($1) and lined the folds of the baby's cupcake bottom with it. She's wearing hot pink leggings from JC Penny's ($10). My costume consists of a cupcake apron from Walmart ($15) and a white adult chef's hat from Hobby Lobby ($5.) That's it! We chose this idea because my daughter has been nicknamed our little cupcake since I was pregnant and we found out she was a girl.
