A word from Nicole, the 'Dr Octopus' costume creator:
My son Jace is wearing his Dr. Octopus costume. He got the idea from watching the movie and asked if I could make it for him. I took ordinary pool noodles, carved them, then painted them with silver paint. Carved foam and hot glued the pieces onto the end of the noodles to create the claws. Painted and hot glued battery operated tea lights into the claws for the red eyes. Took an old trench coat and dyed it dark green. Using a back pack I tied the arms together with elastic bands and put them in the back pack. I then cut the trench coat so the arms could stick out. I cut the belt out of foam and painted it silver then safety pinned it on. The rest is regular black pants, shirt, shoes and welding glasses. Jace was ecstatic when he saw his costume and wore it proudly to a Halloween party today.
