A word from Christiane, the 'Egyptian Pharaoh' costume creator:
This project started last February. My husband is Egyptian so I thought going for pharaoh costumes. Everybody in the family gave a hand to build those costumes. Many trips to Value Village, the dollar store and Home depot. This is how I made everything:
- My headpiece, my daugther headpiece and and my husband chest plate are done with vinyl rolls, painted, cut and glittered. There is more than 300 feathers on my husband chest plate, front and back.
-The base of the headpieces for everyone are baseball cap where I removed the front part.
- My husband headpiece is done with platic mesh, and plaster and paint, glitter.
-The scarab beetle and the cross of life on my son neckklace are made by molding clay and filling it up with silicone (for window), waiting at least 24 hours to dry then painted and glittered.
- My son did not want to wear a skirt so I had to think of something else, I decided to make him an egyptian mummy. Each band is burned on the edge so it wont fray. Everything is sown onto a pant and t-shirt. Spiders are glued.
- My son's staff is made using a broomstick and a snake puppet, painted and glittered.
- The veils for me and my daughter have an added trim that I have sowed together
- Each necklace, wrist band and arms band have a vinyl as a base to make it more stong.
- My daughter dress is made from scratch.
- My necklace is made using earings and old beads.
- We then went to take some pictures. I used ''clipping Magic'' a very simple program to remove the background on all of our picture
