A word from Lori, the 'Egyptians' costume creator:
This is a truly original design... starting with a big box and a sharpie! I made the caravan box and drew hieroglyphics on the sides, slid some PVC pipe to carry it, and draped some vinyl table covers underneath to hide Dad's legs. I used more vinyl table covers as dresses, kilts, and gowns for the people, used fabric paint to accessorize, and bought some metallic fabric for the collars. The wigs were purchased, and so was the king's hat. Some friends joined in and wore a purchased dress, but everyone else was either in garbage bags or vinyl table cloths. The big whole in the box fit Dad, and the kids looked like they were carrying him! The fake legs were made out of cardboard, fiberfill, and stuffed to fit the sandals. The sandals were tied into place on the box so they didn't move. The accessories were stuff from around the house, the broom handle and wooden kitchen spoons with foil and ribbon! Great fun! Easy! And all done with less than $50! (except for the crazy girl who bought her dress for $39!!!)
