A word from Cole, the 'Fight Club: Tyler Durden & Marla Singer' costume creator:

Husband & Wife duo Nicole (Cole) & Garrett, who’s favorite past-time is dressing up in costumes! Cole puts a LOT of effort into making the costumes as authentic as possible to match the characters they portray, and loves the process of piecing everything together.

Fight Club is one of our favorite movies, so we had a lot of fun with this one. We typically watch the movie the night before we wear the costumes, so we can get the facial expressions, quotes and body language down!

For this costume I found a faux leather jacket that was similar to Tyler’s signature look and used Autumn Red leather paint to get it the right color. We used blue track pants with white stripes and added red vinyl tape in with the stripes to match his pants in the film.
Found a tropical shirt that matched as closely as possible to the original. Retro sunglasses from Amazon. A temporary tattoo on his cheek that looked like a big cut. He shaved his face except for his chin, in true Durden/late-90s fashion. Found a bar of soap with “Fight Club” on it via Etsy.

For Marla, I got a men’s short-hairstyle black wig and cut it to look like her hair in the movie, and added a high little ponytail. Copied her sullen, pasty makeup look and found black shades that fit the part. I got a black, furry jacket and wore it over a black slip dress. Stuck on a My Name Is Marla sticker, from her frequent visits to support groups. Lastly added black platform sandals, as that was her style.
Fake cigarettes to top it all off!

I put my heart and soul into making these costumes and enjoyed every minute!
