A word from Ashley, the 'Fire Flame' costume creator:
This is my 6 year Niece Kayden. Her brother was a fireman for Halloween and I thought it would be perfect if she went as fire. this took me about a month to make. It was very tedious. The base of this costume is an old bent hula hoop. I then took floral wire and twine and made a grid inside the circle. I left a space large enough for her to fit into the middle. I weaved battery powered Christmas lights that flickered into the grid. All of the flames and lights are attached to the grid. To make the larger flames I used floral wire and shaped them look like flames. I covered the wire with tinfoil. Then I took plastic basket wrap (orange, red, and yellow) and covered the tin foil covered wire with spray adhesive. I hot glued the flames to the grid and bent them all to look more like a flame. Next I used pieces of glitter tulle (orange, red, and yellow) and weaved and tied it into the grid to fill between the larger flames. I then covered the bottom with paper and duct tape to make it more durable. The costume went around her waist and tied at the shoulders. He head piece was super easy. I just took the fluff out of an old pillow and shaped it into the shape of smoke and spray painted it. It had a band that attached to her hair. The costume looked great in the dark since it lit up. I put the lights on flicker which added to the fire effect. This is the very first costume that I have ever made. My niece loved it and so did everybody else. I am so proud of it! I can't wait to make some for my children next year!
