This homemade costume for adults entered our 2014 Halloween Costume Contest.
A word from Sharon, the 'Florida License Plate/Tag' costume creator:
I am wearing the sign costume that looks like a Florida tag. I got the idea when I had to update my husbands tag and he got a new license plate. It took me 3 days working, researching and constructing using thing in my home for the most part. I only had to spend $3.00 for the 4" green letters from School Aids.
Materials used:
white Packing Styrofoam 15"H X 39" W
Top of glass to make circle for orange
Construction Paper-1 green for leaves, 1 orange for orange, 1 yellow for expiration date on tag
used white out on leaves
scissors
Printed & cut outline of State of Florida then colored w/green sharpie
Packing tape to stick onto Styrofoam
Aluminum to cover the back of sign to represent back of tag
Knife to cut the 4 holes in each corner just like a real tag
Measuring tape to center things & measure out green ribbons
Green ribbons 36" each side to hang as the straps of sign.
Green & Orange Sharpie for the words Florida & Sunshine State
Black Sharpie to write on the expiration date 10-31
4" Green Letters from School Aids
Internet for images of State of Florida tags
If you will notice the expiration date is 10-31 which is Oct 31st the date of Halloween but on the expiration it reads/represents Oct 2031. Clever huh!!!
Another Clever idea I did is the letters used. HALO WEN if you say them together you get HALLOWEEN sound. Plus you can only use 7 letters on a tag. I came up with many Halloween 7 letter words but some were not family appropriate. So I came up with this clever idea as a costume. It's unique and accurate and clever and cost efficient. Bet you haven't seen this one before! I showed my friends and they all loved it and encouraged me to enter into this contest. I believe I got all the information required per the above instructions. And I would like to share with people to make a costume just look around your home and use the things you have, that is where the unique ideas come from.
Hope you like it!!:)
