Flower Nymph Costume

Hello, my name is Casey! I am twelve years old and my costume is a flower nymph. This is the first time I’ve handmade a costume by myself. In August, I decided to make my own costume for Halloween, but I wasn’t sure of what to make. I knew I wanted to be something elegant and after seeing some pictures online, I decided to be a nymph. Once I figured out what kind of nymph I wanted to be, I started to draw my own designs.
After finishing the outline of my costume, I went shopping for clothes at the thrift store. There, I came across a beautiful purple skirt! Even though I didn’t have to do anything to it, which wasn’t my intention, I just couldn’t pass by the skirt, so I bought it. It fit well with the theme.
Next, I needed to find the top. It took me weeks to decide whether I should buy a shirt or make my own. One day, I went shopping and as if on cue I saw iridescent fabric that was just what I needed! It matched perfectly with the skirt! I measured the material, cut and layered it on top of a white tank and and made ruffles for more design. My sister and I thought it looked adorable!
The last thing I had to do was make accessories and decide on makeup. I thought a flower crown would look nice so, I made one out of wire, fake flowers, and some tape. I also used purple yarn around my hands. As for makeup, the idea was to be very sweet and innocent. I used feint red colors, pinkish glitter, and mascara for the eyes. Then, I just used a lip gloss to finish it off.
In total, everything added up to be $15 with the makeup being the most expensive part! Most of the items used were already in my home. While I was taking the photos of my costume, a few people came up to me and told me how nice my costume was and now I’m more confident in what I created so I hope you guys like it!
