A word from Chelsea, the 'Frozen Family' costume creator:
My family is dressed as the characters from Frozen! All of our costumes are homemade. I am dressed as Elsa, which I made by drafting a dress bodice and skirt pattern modeled after the dress Elsa creates from ice. I modified the shawl from the full length train in the movie to a floor length to make walking easier (especially over fallen leaves). I also put homemade snowflake pins in my hair, which I braided myself. My cousin Zoe is dressed as Anna; she made her cloak herself and then modified a dress to match Anna's. She also used her cricut to make the patterns on her dress and shoes. My husband Michael is dressed as Kristoff. I modified a basic shirt pattern to have the pointed sleeves and then lined it and the ball of his hat with faux fur. I also made him a sash to tie everything together. My older son, Leo (age 4), is dressed as Olaf. I made the costume by making a "dress" as the lining and then modifying a basic bodice so that it would be poofier. I then made a "donut" for the bottom snowball and an elongated hood for the head. The twigs are from Joann's floral department (I had to cut the flowers off), and the face/nose are appliqued/hand stitched in place. Lastly, my younger son, Felix (age 11 months) is dressed as Sven. I made a one-piece bodysuit out of faux suede, lined it with cotton, and stuffed it to make it poof. The antlers are made of felt and lined with wire. A headband is hand stitched into the hood to keep the antlers upright. His neck fur is a removable triangle of faux fur that ties around his neck like a bandana.
