A word from Mandy, the 'Garden Angel' costume creator:

Let me just start out by saying that I’m crafty, but this was WAY out of my league.

It is worn by my daughter, Londyn. I literally threw this together not knowing what to expect. I bought white fabric from Walmart for the skirt and (in a very shitty way) sewed the base around a hula-hoop. But my crappy sewing skills paid off, bc various parts of the skirt were “lifted” and gave it that floating effect. I bought expandable rope for the waist and stapled the material over the rope, but I made sure to leave enough of the rope out of the skirt so I could tie it around the waist.

I busted out an old top of mine and safety pinned it to cris cross in the front. I Tore off some of the skirt material to make the waist sash, then pinned a fake flower to it.

For the wig, I used an old baseball cap and cut off the bill, bought some yarn and cut even strips, then hot glued them to
The cap vertically. Then I took a bundle of yarn, lightly twisted it and hot glued them from underneath the front of the cap (the Parted bang area), to behind the back of the ear, underneath the cap. Confusing, I know.

The biggest challenge were the wings. I bought 2 Giant foam Boards, 2 giant poster boards and 2 thin pool noodles. I cut the foam boards into… whatever shape you would call the wings. Then I cut the inner edged part of the wings out of the posted board and hot glued them to the foam board. Once that was done, I cut the pool floaties down the middle, wedged the foam/poster boards in between the floaties, and then hot glued the outside for extra safety.

From there i had my daughter put on a small backpack and measured how the height of each wing could *potentially* hook through the straps of the backpack arms. Once i figured that out, I cut thin vertical slits into the foam board and slid the backpack arms through it BUT BEFORE DOING THAT I also cut those same slits into her shirt. So tank top- shirt- backpack- but slide arms of backpack through shirt slits so straps are not exposed.

I Cut holes into Foam board where wings would connect to the back straps, and fed zip ties through each wing to connect the boards together. Then I fed more zip ties through the previous Zip ties to connect them to the pack pack.

After that, I spray painted the crap out of everything. I wanted to make sure I had light and dark gray to give it the shadow effect.

Like i said y’all, I literally threw this together. If i had to do it all over again it would probably look nothing like this lol.
